Lil Wayne Producer Draws Inspiration From Beastie Boys For Rock Record

After working on the production for "Hello Brooklyn 2.0" for Jay-Z and "Down" for Chris Brown, producer Drew Money has added another notch to his belt, this time producing "Fix My Hat," the fourth track to leak off Lil Wayne's oft-delayed rock album, "Rebirth." The set is slated for a June 23rd release via Young Money/Cash Money/Universal.

"I wanted to give him something old school-sounding, but with new elements in it like synths and 808s and snares," the 26-year-old producer tells Billboard. "I wanted raw energy, and if you listen to Beastie Boys' first album, 'Licensed To Ill,' you'll know what mind state I was in when creating it. I just wanted something simplistic but with a complex element in the hook."

Although "Rebirth" is labeled a rock set, "Fix My Hat" is one of the few "rap songs on the album," says the Michigan-born producer, "for his core fans that don't like rock."

Drew Money got his first placement on Dipset's "More Than Music" album, released in June 2005, with the song "Get Down With Dipset." After working on "Down" for Chris Brown, he came up with "Hello Brooklyn." After one listen to the track, which was originally meant for Def Jam rapper Fabolous, Jay-Z felt it was "something he had to have," says Drew Money.

Aside from working on new tracks for Lil Wayne's "Rebirth," Drew Money is currently in the studio with Missy Elliott, as well as working on scores for movies like "Dog Fight" and "The U," as well as "Land Of The Lost" with Will Ferrell. In the future, he hopes to team up with E-40, Britney Spears, Rihanna and Jay-Z again. "Some of my favorite sounds are 808s and guitars, but I definitely don't want to be pigeonholed," he says.

As previously reported, other producers on "Rebirth" include Infamous and Drew Correa, Cool and Dre, Develop and Street Runner.

Louis Vuitton Accuses Rick Ross Of Wearing Knock-Offs

XXL magazine put Def Jam star Rick Ross on the cover of their May issue, on newstands now. The rapper was photographed at close range, donning Louis Vuitton sunglasses. The publication learned, by way of letter to the editorial staff from Vuitton's attorney, that those glasses were indeed fake, causing a lot of controversy for the famed designer brand, and perhaps the rapper.

Sent by Michael D. Pantalony, Esq., the letter claimed the glasses' trademarks were "counterfeit," and caused "confusion" for readers and consumers. The attorney also clarified that Vuitton has no known association with the rapper or the publication. The entire letter can read.

Ross has yet to comment on the claims.

Previously, rumors have swirled that Fabolous has worn counterfeit Nike sneakers and Lil Wayne has been photographed in counterfeit Bathing Ape clothing. Neither claims were ever verified, and both refuted by rappers.

The XXL Editors received this letter from Louis Vuitton concerning the May 2009 cover of Rick Ross.

We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.

The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.

Eminem To Get Animated With Stewie Griffin From 'Family Guy'

'I'm a big fan of talking babies and their humor,' Em says of his cartoon co-hosting gig on Sunday.

Eminem has been many things, from a world-famous, multiplatinum rapper to an Academy Award winner. He was once even animated into a series of cartoon shorts. Now, Eminem is taking his animated career even further, co-hosting Fox's "animation domination" programming block with none other than Stewie Griffin from "Family Guy."

"It was a thrill to work with Stewie," Eminem said in a press release. "I'm a big fan of talking babies and their humor."

The seemingly unlikely pair are teaming up to make a MySpace music announcement Sunday night (MySpace and Fox are owned by the same parent company, News Corporation). Perhaps it will be a surprise/secret MySpace concert, or maybe just Eminem thanking you for the friend add. Only time will tell.

Of course, that's not the only connection Stewie has to rap music. Back in 2003, he guest-starred on the MTV News VMA preshow to review some of the nominees. We couldn't help but pull that clip out of the vault and dust it off while we get psyched for Shady's announcement on Sunday.

If that's not enough Eminem for you, get your fill when Marshall does three nights of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" He'll be keeping America up late Friday, Tuesday (the day his Relapse album is released) and the following Friday, with that last performance live via satellite from Detroit.
